Paolo Ciccarelli

Manager with both Italian and international experience. In his career, he has consolidated a dynamic and personal approach, and is able to promptly identify critical issues and business potential. He has implemented interventions in both direct management activities and short-medium-long term restructuring plans.

Academic Career

He graduated in Business Administration at Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia in 1982. Until 1984, he was Assistant to the Professor of Technical Administration of Public Services Enterprise in the Faculty of Economics and Commerce at the Università di Roma.

He was a lecturer in training courses for the Board of Chartered Accountants of Milan, member of the Board's Governance Commission, and Guest Speaker on corporate and financial issues. Has was appointed Professor of Economics in the Faculty of Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino (2015-2016).

Consulting
and Auditing

He began his professional career in Consulting and Auditing at Arthur Andersen, and then worked for Deloitte.

Managerial activity

Between 1990 and 1994, he served the Fininvest Group, where he restructured several societies of the group subsequently taking part in developing projects for new corporate companies.

In July 1994, he was appointed Head of Administration, Finance and Control of the newly founded Italian Stock Exchange Council.

In the Italian Stock Exchange Group he held the office of Administration Director of the Italian Clearing house, and Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Group's service companies; in 2001, he managed the acquisition - together with Euronext - of the majority of the MTS Group.

At the time of the acquisition of the Italian Stock Exchange by the London Stock Exchange, he was Chief Financial Officer of the Group, Managing Director of BIt Systems SpA (the ICT Company of the Group) and of Servizio Titoli SpA, member of the Supervisory Board of MTS SpA and Chairman of its Audit Committee.

After the merger, he acquired the position of Director of Finance of the London Stock Exchange.

From June 2008 to September 2010 he was Chief Financial Officer of Barclays Italy and Chairman of Barclays Family SpA.

In 2001, Paolo founded Studio Ciccarelli, an independent business management consulting firm. During this professional activity, he held the following positions:

  • CFO of Electro Power System Srl (Energy)
  • Acting CFO of Doing Group (Web & Media)
